Did you know Elvis’ Aloha- Live from Hawaii concert was the first program starring a single performer to be broadcast around the world 50 years ago? It’s true! The concert was recorded live on January 14, 1973.

It aired live to countries throughout Asia and Oceania, which includes Australia, New Zealand, New Guinea, Polynesia and Hawaii. The performance also aired in Europe and the United States. An album of the live recording was released in February 1973.

It was Elvis’ first number one album on Billboard’s Hot 100 since 1965, according to Wikipedia. The album featured hits such as “Johnny B. Goode,” “Blue Suede Shoes” and “Suspicious Minds.” It sold half-a-million copies in two weeks and was certified gold within three weeks.

Aloha – Andy Norman and The Burning Love Band will be at Troy University’s Davis Theatre, located at 251 Montgomery St. in Montgomery. The historic Davis Theatre in downtown Montgomery is about 50 miles from Troy Alabama Apartment Homes.
