local schools improved on the State Report Card

As the fall semester for both universities and grade schools wrapped up for winter break, they weren’t the only things focused on making the grade. And, as it turns out, local schools improved on the State Report Card this year!

How local schools improved on the State Report Card

Students aren’t the only ones who were hoping for an improvement in their grades this year. Troy City Schools and Pike County Schools were both focused on the same task too. Like students, they eagerly awaited the results of the Alabama Department of Education’s State Report Card and individual school system report cards.

The good news is that, according to reports, local schools improved on the State Report Card for the 2022-2023 school year. More specifically, Troy City Schools earned an overall score of 87, which is a “B.” The average considers a variety of factors, such as academic growth, absenteeism, achievement, graduation rates and college and career readiness.

More about making the grade

Technically, Troy City Schools letter grade didn’t change from 2021-2022. But the average increased by five points, going up from an 82 to an 87. Other local schools improved on the State Report Card as well, including Pike County Schools.

Pike County Schools also received a “B” average with a grade of 84, which is a two-point increase from the previous year! If you want to see the State Report Card in detail, including the scores for individual schools and school systems, the report can be found online.
