Local Spotlight: New Mural in Downtown Troy

new mural in Downtown Troy

Summer just got a little more colorful thanks to a new mural in downtown Troy that makes the perfect backdrop for a summer selfie!

The new mural

The new mural in downtown Troy is painted in a popular postcard-style. In a pretty hand-painted script, visitors are given “Greetings from Troy Alabama.” (Although the “Troy” is painted in large block letters.)

Inside the letters are notable landmarks such as the water tower and Troy University’s John Robert Lewis Hall, for example. Additional images include a baseball player, football player and band member along with an American flag.

Plus, there’s a nod to Troy’s military appreciation with a depiction of a Bell AH-1 Cobra. The actual helicopter sits atop a large post in Troy’s Bicentennial Park, just off U.S. Highway 231.

Of course, a mural in Troy wouldn’t be complete without a Trojan to round things out.

Wondering where the new mural is? You can find it on the side of Hazel’s Gifts & Engraving located at 101 West Elm St. It was painted by A Color Affair.
