Summertime not only brings warm weather, but also a ton of opportunity for exciting activities and adventures. One of the best parts of summer is going to the farmers market for fresh fruits and vegetables. Farmers markets create environments where local farms are able to connect directly with their communities. Support your local farmers and visit the Pike County Farmers Market this season!
Pike County Farmers Market
It’s farmers market season! From now through November, you can buy fresh and shop local at the Pike County Farmers Market. The farmers market offers a variety of different in-season fruits and vegetables. Robert and Marie Little, the market managers, told The Troy Messenger the market is the place to find fresh farm-to-table produce at good prices.
The Pike County Farmers Market accepts Farmers Market Nutrition Program cards. This program helps provide a connection to nutrition for seniors and nutritionally at-risk women and children by encouraging and providing an opportunity to buy local produce from farmers.
When you visit the Pike County Farmers Market, you are supporting the local farmers who support the community where you live. You might be surprised to find other items like canned goods and even fresh baked goods.
The Pike County Farmers Market is located at 1003 Highway 231 in Troy. It can be found on the green space beside Troy Bank and Trust, and adjacent to the Bicentennial Park.
It is open on Tuesdays from 5 to 7 p.m. and Saturdays from 7 to 11 a.m. There is convenient parking on site and a shaded shopping area to cover you from that hot summer sun.
