There’s a new business coming soon to the Troy square. Brought to you by two local restaurant owners, The Market in Downtown Troy will be a vibrant collection of diverse and delicious local cuisine.
From the owners of local Italian restaurant Francesca’s, Yanni and Denise Tempelis are proud to bring you their new tasty adventure–The Market.
Just across the street, owner Richard Alexander and co-owner Adam Renfroe have just opened The Corner. It’s a restaurant with barbecue items, special cocktails, and more. These two new storefronts will bring the square to full occupancy.
This new store will honor the history of Downtown Troy and the location’s original owner, George Sitaras. Sitaras came to America in 1914 and opened his restaurant, The Riverside Café, alongside his sister and brother-in-law.
Honoring the previous Greek ownership and continuation, The Market will feature photographs and other memorabilia. This foundation has established a tradition of good food and great times at the square.
Although Tempelis and his wife will not be recreating the restaurant that once occupied their storefront, they will be creating their own history. Tempelis told the Troy Messenger, “That would not be right or fair to try to do what he did and did so well. We could not do justice to him or to the history of The Riverside. Denise and I will have to create our own history.”
Renovations are now taking place, and The Market in Downtown Troy is aiming to open soon.
You can soon find this new and delicious food boutique at 115 Hanchey Street in Troy.
Continuing the Greek ownership and tradition, Yanni and Denise Tempelis are ecstatic to bring The Market to Downtown Troy. Offering both sit-in and grab-and-go meals, you will want to keep your eyes peeled for when the opening date is announced.
